Facts about Wairarapa.
1.The Wairarapa is one of the longest-settled regions of New Zealand but the people didn’t settled in fast.
2.The european settlers were the first people in new zealand to create sheep stations which are a large farm of sheep on the plains south of Martinborough.
3.The southern coastline boasts Cape Palliser which has the largest collection of native furs made from the fur from the native animals found in NZ.
4. The Maori people named the area Wairarapa which means “land of Glistening Waters”.
5. Masterton is the largest town in Wairarapa.
6. There are five town in Wairarapa they are Carterton, Masterton, Martinborough, Greytown and Featherston.
